Black History Month & 3 Exciting South Side Tours!

Happy Black History Month, South Side Tours family!
As we enter this month, we want to first wish you joy, reflection and pride. Black history is American history — full stop. Our stories are foundational, powerful and ongoing.
At the same time, we would be remiss not to acknowledge that our history is under attack. The recent removal of chattel slavery interpretive panels from the "President’s House: Freedom and Slavery in the Making of a New Nation" exhibit in Philadelphia is part of a troubling trend to erase the truth. We stand firmly against that erasure.
We also stand in solidarity with tour operators and cultural workers committed to telling our often overlooked stories. We proudly support Black Journey Philadelphia, who has joined a federal lawsuit challenging these actions that threaten cultural and historical storytelling. This work matters, and so does collective action.
Now, let’s talk celebration — because honoring Black history also means living it and experiencing it! We have some exciting experiences lined up this month:
✨ South Side Night Out
A vibrant cultural nightlife experience journeying through the neighborhoods of Bronzeville, Woodlawn, and Greater Grand Crossing. Music, movement, stories, and energy — this is the South Side after dark, and it’s unforgettable.

✨ FREE Bronzeville Tour with Maceo Leon Thomas
Back by popular demand! Join us Saturday, February 21st at 12:00 PM for this powerful bus tour led by historian and storyteller Maceo Leon Thomas. Bring friends and soak in the history — for free.

✨ SAVE THE DATE: Brewery Adventure Tour 🍻
Our highly anticipated Brewery Adventure Tour is back in partnership with Black and Brew Chicago!
This high-energy, culturally rich experience highlights Black brewing excellence and includes a unique educational component led by craft beer guru Mickey Bryant. Whether you’re a seasoned beer connoisseur or just curious to learn Black brewing history with a buzz, this tour is for you.
Black history is not confined to one month — it’s alive, evolving and happening right here on the South Side. Thank you for continuing to learn, explore and stand with us.
With gratitude and purpose,
The South Side Tours Team
