Dear Friends of South Side Tours,
As Black History Month comes to a close, we are proud to share a special moment from this meaningful season.
This past Sunday, February 22nd, our founder, Angela Dugan, was honored to serve as the keynote speaker for the People’s Church of the Harvest COGIC Black History Month Presentation. Angela delivered a powerful and engaging talk commemorating the centennial of Black History Month, connecting national history with the rich and often untold stories of Chicago.
In her presentation, Angela explored:
The origins and purpose of Black History Month
The legacy of Jean Baptiste Point DuSable, the founder of Chicago
The impact of Harold Washington, Chicago’s first Black mayor
Key moments and figures in West Side history

Thank you for celebrating Black History Month with us and for continuing to support the preservation and sharing of Black history year-round. We are grateful to walk this journey with such an engaged and thoughtful community.
With appreciation,
The South Side Tours Team
